Areas Liposuction Can Treat

Liposuction can be performed in one area or across multiple areas, depending on your goals and what is appropriate for your surgical plan. Some patients come in with one clear priority. Others want to talk through how several areas relate to each other, such as the abdomen and flanks, or the waistline and back.

Common treatment areas include:

  • Abdomen
  • Waist and flanks
  • Back and bra-line area
  • Hips
  • Thighs
  • Upper arms
  • Neck and under-chin area

During your consultation, our surgeon will review the areas you want to address and how treatment in those areas may affect overall contour.

What Liposuction Can & Cannot Do

Liposuction is designed to refine contour. It does not remove excess skin, and it does not tighten skin in the same way as procedures that remove skin. Skin quality and anatomy influence what results look like and how they settle over time.

In some situations, liposuction alone is a good match. In others, a different approach or a combination plan may be recommended if tightening is an important part of the goal. This is discussed clearly during your evaluation, along with what is realistic for your body.

Liposuction may also be discussed alongside other procedures, such as a tummy tuck, Mommy Makeover, or breast procedures, when contouring supports the overall result. Recommendations are based on safety, surgical scope, and recovery needs.

What the Liposuction Process Looks Like

The process starts with a consultation where you and Dr. Veith review the areas you’re considering, talk through your goals, and decide which approach fits your anatomy. During the visit, Dr. Veith reviews your medical history and performs a physical exam to guide safe recommendations.

Use the consultation to cover the practical details that shape planning, including downtime, activity restrictions, and follow-up timing. You can also talk through what early recovery may look like day to day, including limitations that may affect work and home responsibilities.

After you and Dr. Veith choose a plan, pre-op visits cover the details that shape your experience. You’ll review incision placement, preparation steps, compression guidance, and what healing usually involves. If you’re considering multiple areas, Dr. Veith will explain whether treating them together makes sense or whether staging treatment supports a safer recovery.

After surgery, the team schedules follow-up visits to track healing, address questions, and clarify what falls within the expected range during recovery and what needs a call.

Recovery, Healing, & How Results Develop

Swelling and bruising are expected after liposuction. The contour changes gradually as healing progresses, and results may continue to refine over time. Recovery varies based on the areas treated and the scope of surgery, so guidance is tailored to your plan rather than general timelines.

Many patients plan lighter days early on, especially if multiple areas are treated. Return-to-work timing depends on what your day-to-day responsibilities involve, along with what was performed. Activity restrictions will be discussed clearly, including when walking is encouraged and when more strenuous activity should wait.

The Cost of Liposuction Surgery

Liposuction pricing depends on the areas being treated and the details of your surgical plan. During your consultation, you’ll receive a clear breakdown of expected costs and what is included.

In most cases, liposuction is considered a cosmetic procedure, which means insurance often does not apply. In select situations, coverage may be available when a procedure is determined a medical necessity. If a coverage review is needed, the team can help you understand what information is typically requested and what steps may be required, such as a referral or prior authorization. We accept all major insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid.

For patients paying out of pocket, billing is explained in a straightforward way. You’ll know what is included in the surgical fee, what may be billed separately, and when payments are due.
